Then plan forward
Advanced Tax Planning
Tax planning is not about guessing. It is about strategy. This practice offers proactive planning on a limited basis for select clients who want to reduce future tax exposure and create long-term clarity.
Chapter 01
The difference between planning and preparation
A prepared return reports decisions you already made. A plan changes the decisions while you can still make them. That is the whole distinction, and it is why April is the wrong month to start the conversation: by then the only remaining variable is which box the number goes in.
Planning here is deliberately selective and tailored. It is not a product bolted onto every engagement, and it is not sold to somebody who would be better served by getting an IRS balance resolved first.

Who planning is for
Clients completing IRS resolution, which is the most common route into it. Clergy with complex income, where dual status and housing allowance make ordinary rules of thumb unreliable. High-income individuals. And small business owners, where entity choice and owner compensation are usually the two largest levers in the file.
Planning often follows successful resolution work, and that sequence is not an upsell. Once a balance is resolved, the useful question changes from what happened to what stops it happening again, and that question has a real answer.
Chapter 03
What planning may include
Income and withholding strategy. Retirement contribution planning. Entity and compensation review. Timing and cash-flow planning, so that a strategy which works on paper is also survivable month to month.
The word may is doing real work in that list. Which levers apply depends on the file, and a plan that recommends all of them to everybody is a template rather than a plan.
How the work is delivered
Planning services are delivered using structured methodologies informed by advanced training through the TaxPlanIQ Certified Concierge Advisor program. In practice that means you receive a written plan with an implementation order and a projected result, rather than a verbal suggestion you are left to action alone.
Ongoing bookkeeping, payroll processing and routine business tax preparation are not part of this. Those belong elsewhere, and you will be told where rather than sold something adjacent.
